Today I had the opportunity to get out in the community at the Roanoke Valley gun show. I gathered some signatures for my petition to be on the ballot and fielded some questions from people who wanted to know more about me and my campaign. A lot of the questions asked were the same or similar, so I figured I would take the time to answer them here too:
- I was asked if I am a Republican or Democrat:
- I am not a member of the Republican Party.
- I am not a member of the Democratic Party.
- I am a member of the Libertarian Party (at the national and state level).
- Any party can put my name on the ballot if they so choose.
- I am assuming the Republican incumbent, The Honorable Robert William “Bob” Goodlatte will choose to run for re-election despite his original decision not to. If he does, I will be running against him for the United States Congress House of Representatives seat for Virginia’s 6th Congressional District.
- I personally like Congressman Goodlatte. I classify him as a “moderate” on some issues and a “conservative” on others.
- I support the second amendment right to keep and bear arms.
- I am a concealed handgun permit (CHP) holder.
- Signing my petition does not necessarily signify your intent to vote for me in the election. It only signifies your support of having my name on the ballot.
