Gun Show Questions – Take Two

Sunday, January 3rd, 2010

Today, I had an opportunity to volunteer and help out with the Roanoke Tea Party booth at the Roanoke gun show. It was great to meet so many of you and talk to you about the issues our country faces today. I had another round of questions similar to yesterday’s, but here are some new additions to the “Frequently Asked Questions” list.

  • I am a Marine Corps veteran.
  • I do not support the proposed health care bills currently in the House and Senate.
  • I am not independently wealthy.
  • I do work for a living, and I love my job as the CTO for a Roanoke-based web design, web hosting and marketing firm.
  • I am not a lawyer.

Thanks to everyone for your outpouring of support. I look forward to making 2010 a wonderful year!

Gun Show Questions

Saturday, January 2nd, 2010

Today I had the opportunity to get out in the community at the Roanoke Valley gun show. I gathered some signatures for my petition to be on the ballot and fielded some questions from people who wanted to know more about me and my campaign. A lot of the questions asked were the same or similar, so I figured I would take the time to answer them here too:

  • I was asked if I am a Republican or Democrat:
    • I am not a member of the Republican Party.
    • I am not a member of the Democratic Party.
    • I am a member of the Libertarian Party (at the national and state level).
  • Any party can put my name on the ballot if they so choose.
  • I am assuming the Republican incumbent, The Honorable Robert William “Bob” Goodlatte will choose to run for re-election despite his original decision not to. If he does, I will be running against him for the United States Congress House of Representatives seat for Virginia’s 6th Congressional District.
  • I personally like Congressman Goodlatte. I classify him as a “moderate” on some issues and a “conservative” on others.
  • I support the second amendment right to keep and bear arms.
  • I am a concealed handgun permit (CHP) holder.
  • Signing my petition does not necessarily signify your intent to vote for me in the election. It only signifies your support of having my name on the ballot.

Semper Fi,

– Stuart

Independence Day 2009 Speech

Saturday, July 4th, 2009

On July 4th, 2009, Stuart Bain spoke at the Roanoke Tax Day Tea Party’s Independence Day rally. Here is the video of Mr. Bain’s speech courtesy of fellow patriot, Erik Kritter.

Note: The speech’s introduction labels Mr. Bain as a “Republican” candidate even though Mr. Bain’s beliefs and ideals match more closely with those which are traditionally considered “Libertarian.”
