It’s a question I get all the time. Almost every day. When I tell people I’m running for congress, they ask if I am a Democrat or a Republican. It is very, very predictable. Some people even believe it says in the Constitution that we’re supposed to have two parties: Democrats and Republicans. The concept of a party other than a Democrat or Republican is just foreign to some people! They don’t understand that there are better alternatives out there. When I say I’m a member of the Libertarian Party, it’s almost like their brain short circuits or something.

I usually use the question as a starting point to determine what matters most to the individual I’m talking to. What I find is that many people who vote for Republicans and call themselves Republicans are actually Libertarians. I also find that most Democrats value fiscal responsibility but want to protect social freedoms. Funny how that works out. Take the World’s Smallest Political Quiz and find out where you stand.

In an effort to help spread the word and give more resources to individuals who want more information about liberty-minded principles, I added a page to help people understand what the Libertarian Party is. I also added some links on the sidebar of the site to sites with more information about libertarian principles and ideals. If you have any to add to the mix, please feel free to leave a comment!
